Politics and Apple

Politics as usual

Former Senator John Edwards has finally come out and said that Quinn is his baby. Whew what a relief and here I thought it was going to be a typical soap opera; where years later the truth comes out. Mrs. Edwards also got the message: I am outta of here. Lady, it’s about time. Pack up his things and throw them out the door.

Steve Jobs latest announcement is the: iPad. Ok, now that the jokes are out of the way. In about 60 to 90 days I’ll be able to get my grubby fingers on it to see if the iPad is really as cool as Apple says it is. Other then the name my only other sticking point with this device is that it’s hooked up again with at&t. You have to pay 30 bucks a month to have access to the web. Boo hiss.

President Obama gave his first State of the Union address, considering how often he has spoken to Congress; I can’t help but think this was his 3rd or 4th State of the Union. Be that as it may, he appeared a bit humbled by his forays into governing and his recent losses in political arena.

The speech in itself was smartly written from the point of view an outsider. He made sure to point out to the American public, that congress needs to change the way to legislates if it doesn’t want to stay in stalemate for the duration of his term. President Obama also pointed out a recent ruling from the Supreme Court that loosens campaign financing to allow corporation to spend as much money on the candidate of their choosing. Regardless of what Justice Sam Alito was muttering: it is so true. So it’s time for Congress to buck up and actually legislate, do their job, what a novel concept. It’s time for the President of the United States to take the reins and give clear leadership.
If the two major branches of the government chose to remain indente then we all lose Republicans, Democrats and Independents.

The GOP response was delivered by recently elected Gov. Bob McDonnell of Virginia. From a guy who ran a great campaign he delivered a tone deaf speech that read from talking points in Republican handbook. Although I have to say it was a step up from Gov Jindal of La.

Ok, guys I’m off to do what moms do best: mom work.
