Summer Politics

Press Secretary Roberts Gibbs has opened his office for questions via YouTube. Last I checked there was about 570 questions, I contributed about 12. One of which was pinged as inappropriate. The question was how happy do you think the White House Press Corp will be about this new development of maneuvering around the accredited media. I have to wonder how many journalists will pose questions under nicknames. Hopefully @PressSec is on the look out for those.

Today the big news was the Oil hearing in Congress. All of the CEOs were called on the carpet. With most of the anger and frustration directed towards BP. The questions were a litany of why, how long, what can be done to prevent this again and you are going to pay for all of this mess. The answers were: Investigation is under way, not till August and all legitimate claims. Congressmen barked, the CEO’s hedged and nothing new was learned.

Tonight President Obama takes center stage from the Oval Office for the first time in his term. How much more can he do to assure the American people that his Administration is doing the best and all it can in this environmental disaster; is uncertain.

What Mr. Obama needs to do is become the Office of the Presidency; to go beyond politics, industry standards and the science. And speak to the hearts and minds of innovation that can help to reinvent this country in its hour of need.
